Perfect little riverhouse!
I have stayed at the riverhouse several times. My daughter was a camp counselor at one of the area camps and Betty's riverhouse was such a great place to stay. The house is very roomy and clean. It is located right on the river and the fishing is awesome! I can't wait to come back for another stay!
Quick family trip
The family had a fun time exploring, fishing, canoeing Ms. Betty's lovely property. What a peaceful slice of relaxation this property provides. The sound of river water flowing, birds chatting, beautiful cypress trees are a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of a busy life. What a pleasure and centrally located between Fredericksburg, Lost Maples State Park. Ms. Betty is a gracious host and a joy to visit with.
My Families New Relaxing River Retreat
My husband found this place when he was looking for somewhere he could suprise me with a romantic vacation where I could just sit back and relax. I have to say he found us our new paradise. My family first vacationed here around Valentines day. The second I stepped out of my car I felt relaxed. The smells of natures, the calls of the birds, the old, tall cypress trees that flank the river. It was too chilly for us to use the rive on this visit, but we enjoyed hiking on Betty's property. My family is really into geology. Our hobby is to hunt for special rocks and fossils. One of my daughters found a arrow head down and we all came home with great fossils and unique rocks for our collection. We enjoyed use of the provided grills and the fireplace, appreciated the views from inside, and felt right at home. We loved the place so much that we brought my mother back with us for a family vacation when the weather was warmer. We went tubing in the river, swam in the deep swimming hole, fit 6 people in a canoe for a relaxing trip up river to Angel Falls, and enjoyed the amazing wildflowers that we in bloom this April. If you love nature and relaxing this place is for you. It's like camping with all the amenities. My family will be going back time and time again. We fell in love with Betty, the owner. I give this place amazing reviews and only wish I would have discovered it and Betty years ago.
ULTIMATE RELAXATION MODE
My mom, sisters, nieces and I stayed here in the RiverHouse last July 2011, and we were in total relaxation mode. I read an "entire" book, which I just cannot seem to do in the city!! We loved that there are two options for floating and swimming, the deep hole right below the cabin, with rippling waters and then the longer stretch of smooth, clear river water which was great for relaxing, floating, swimming, taking canoe up the river, etc. Am currently waiting on the girls to hurry and let me know what days we are going to book for this year!! Great hill country place, Betty is a wonderful hostess, relaxing sounds of the rapids below the cliff and the cottage is close to camps and to the Hunt Store, a must when you are craving an ice cream fix!!
I have stayed at Casa del Rio for many years while dropping off and picking up my daughters from Camp Mystic. Betty has always been the perfect hostess, and I look forward to seeing her and geting a big hug from her each year. The cabin is the perfect size for a family and has all the amenities you would want or need. It is always impecably clean! It is in a great location--close (but not too close) to the Hunt Store and near all the camps and Criders. The property sits on a great location on the river--there are shallow rapids, so you can see (and hear) some white water, and there is a calm deeper pool to begin your canoe trip up the river. My favorite thing to do during my stay is to sit under the beautiful canopy of trees by the river and watch the water of the Guadalupe meander by. I literally sit there for hours listening and watching the wonders of nature around me. Even though my girls' camp days are over, I can't wait to plan a trip to Casa Del Rio--it is always the highlight of my year.
Lovely and Charming
We had a lovely time in Betty's charming Guadalupe Room. My hubby and I grew up in the Kerrville/Hunt area but our daughter had never been there so it was really fun getting to show her the river and Crider's and all the sites from our childhood. We canoed, swam, sunned ourselves and grilled to our heart's content. Then we drove just half an hour or so to some of the most beautiful bluebonnet viewing in the state. It's an ideal location for Hill Country vacationing and Betty was a marvelous hostess.
Wonderful accomodations! Everyone slept well, the kitchen was clean and easy to cook in. Beautiful, peaceful, canoeing was the family favorite! The fishing was great as well. The owner is wonderful, a gracious hostess. Can't wait to return!
NATURE'S PARADISE
Fishing in sparkle clear river, symphony of birds songs, deer in abundance, comfy house with an unbelievable view and beautiful starry nights. Add to that a host with a heart as big as Texas and you have an idea of what tranquility awaits for you at Casa del rio riverhouse. We had a very special weekend and memorable family time. Thank You Betty! We'll be back!
We had a great stay at the Riverhouse. Just outside the dining room windows we hung a bird feeder and enjoyed many hours watching the birds and listening to the sounds of the water. One morning a Grey Fox strolled along the other side of the river bank, crossed over the foot bridge and continued his morning stroll past the house just outside the dining room windows. There were also 5 pairs of Wood Ducks – beautiful! Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, Northern Cardinals, Chipping Sparrows, American Goldfinches and House Finches all stopped by the bird feeder. In the trees, we found Eastern Phoebe, Northern Mockingbird, Carolina Wren, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Ladder-backed Woodpecker and a Brown Creeper. Thank you Betty for being a gracious host and sharing your birds with us.
Perfect Holiday Weekend
My family and I stayed at Casa Del Rio over Thanksgiving. It was the perfect place to spend the holiday. The setting was lovely. We hiked the woods and cliffs on the property, canoed, fished, had s'mores around the fireplace every night, and enjoyed the beautiful views of the Guadalupe. The cabin is within a short drive of a number of fun Hill Country destinations (Lost Maples, Fredericksburg, Medina, etc). I'd highly recommend Casa Del Rio. We hope to return soon!
